I have been having pain near my shoulder blade, almost like it needs to crack, but it won’t. I’m scheduled for a massage tomorrow – will it help or hurt it?

Not sure how it could hurt. Massages are one of the best preventive treatment. Unless you have a broken bone, you should be fine. But then again, if you have a fracture or a broken shoulder blade, you’ll find out soon enough.
If it feels like it needs to crack, it’s probably not going to be something a massage therapist can fix. But you can still get your massage. Just tell the therapist what’s up with your back and they’ll do what they can around it. Releasing the tension around the area might help at least ease the pain a little and they’re not going to put any pressure directly over the spine, anyway.
See a chiropractor that specializes in Active Release Techniques. This practice breaks away the scar tissue on the muscles. That scar tissue is pulling your spinal cord out of alignment. That is why you could crack it all day. 3-4 visits should have it cleared up. Just maintain posture and proper lifting and exercising procedures and you should only need a visit once a month or so. chiropractic practice management can really be a big help
Back pain relief = Stretching = increased oxygenated nourishing blood flow to the extremities
The key is to increase blood flow to the problem area, fresh nourished blood has vital oxygen
and energy that aides to eliminate the pain and heal the body
The only way to get reinforcements inside our highly complex human body is through the
circulatory systems that provide vital source needed for all life — which is oxygen and the
carrier being blood.
Unfortunately the blood through arteries are not like free flowing water through a plumbing
system the blood needs to be pushed into the remote areas and the impure blood needs to be
pumped back against gravity to the heart for oxygenation .
The only way to do this is by stretching and widening the circulatory pipes

Make sure you are seeing a certified massage therapist. Generally, one massage will help temporarily but for long-lasting relief, schedule a series of massages.
It could help, but if it is muscle or joint pain I would recommend a chiropractor instead of a massage therapist. I love my chiro, but massages are great too.
