I only had sciaticas in my labour (my son was lying back to back) and it just felt like period pains, they were low down where you get the usual aches and pains, but obviously they hurt a bit more.
Everyone is different though, no matter what kind of pain it is, the best way to gauge labour or not is to time the pains and see if there’s a pattern etc.

No, it doesn’t always have to be it could be mid back. I just went through 36 hours of labor on the 10th.. sad results but some of my contractions where higher in my back and felt like normal period cramps only higher, but then i started getting them lower and in my tummy too.

I had lower sciatica all day and said to my h that I thought I was in labour, he had the cheek to say to me that HE didn’t have a the feeling… my waters broke that night about 11pm I had been in labour all day.

As i recall it used to start lower back and come round to the front,But not all of us women experience the same .
