Still Have Pain 1 Year Post Shoulder Surgery…?

October 29th, 2009 · 4 Comments · Pain

I had a shoulder “decompression” last november and still have moderate pain and weakness with any any improvement? I had bone spurs (smoothed down), a labral tear (repaired), and a partially torn rotator cuff? Any advice?

Did you have physical therapy and if so did you follow all instructions? I had surgery last February on my arm and I am still having pain once in a while but it is mostly the 8 inch scar. It is still quite sensitive in a few spots. You had quite a few different things done at once. I would guess that having so many things done at once could contribute to the prolonged pain. If it is very bothersome or gets worse put in a call to your surgeon. He/she may want to check it out to be sure it healed properly or if there is a buildup of scar tissue. You can use a heat and see if that helps to make feel better for a little while.

I had 2 bone spurs, a rotator cuff tear and a bicep tear close to a year ago, if not more and i still get pain too. you gotta be careful with certain activities cause you can re tear it.

Have you been doing all of the exercises you were prescribed? What is your range of motion like?

I’m not a doctor or anything, but pain a year after your surgery most likely isn’t good. I’d go get it checked out.
