It is likely a shoulder impingement. This can often mean that the supraspinatus muscle (1 of the 4 rotator cuff muscles) is being pinched against a bone (the acromion) of the shoulder blade. It is usually due to rotator cuff weakness as many "lifters" forget about the little muscles that ensure proper joint mechanics. If the pain is on the outside of the arm between the shoulder and elbow it is a "supraspinatus referral pattern" and is quite common. It is very treatable with physical therapy rotator cuff exercises. Keep in mind not to ignore this as it is often a precursor to a rotator cuff tear. Good luck.
