Slight Pain In My Arm For Last Six Weeks, Between Elbow And Shoulder?

November 22nd, 2009 · 3 Comments · Pain

I have been going to the gym now for about a year, I do both cardio and weights. About six weeks ago i noticed a slight pain in my right arm, I stopped doing weights for a while, just in case I made the injury worse, and now just do cardio. I still have this slight pain between my elbow and my shoulder especially when lifting anything. Is there anythind else I can do to heal this pain and what can it be?

It is likely a shoulder impingement. This can often mean that the supraspinatus muscle (1 of the 4 rotator cuff muscles) is being pinched against a bone (the acromion) of the shoulder blade. It is usually due to rotator cuff weakness as many “lifters” forget about the little muscles that ensure proper joint mechanics. If the pain is on the outside of the arm between the shoulder and elbow it is a “supraspinatus referral pattern” and is quite common. It is very treatable with physical therapy rotator cuff exercises. Keep in mind not to ignore this as it is often a precursor to a rotator cuff tear. Good luck.

You may of strained or pulled a muscle.

you may have pulled/strained something like a muscle. you should get it checked out soon or it might become permanent.
