A couple months ago I fell while snowboarding and got my arm pinned up behind me while trying to break my fall, and it still hasn’t really recovered all the way. The thing is, like 99% of the time I don’t feel any pain in it any more, it’s just certain motions hurt like crazy and it’s holding me back. It usually hurts when I do any sort of forward motion with my arm, like throwing a football, throwing a punch or pushing something, and so on. I figured it would just get better on it’s own, thinking i just pulled something, but I still cant even throw a football. But I know it’s gotten some what better because there is no constant pain or soreness any more. So, should I give it more time or go to a doctor?

Sounds like a classic “rotator cuff” injury. You hear about QBs getting these, right? You said throwing motions can trigger the pain? I bet it mainly hurts when you move or reach forward with your arm raised. There is a surgery that can speed healing in young patients, but must be done soon after injury. THis is a small tear or injury to muscle tissue, so it heals slowly. Just try to not aggravate it. Be aware of sleeping in ways that keep it comfy. I had one this year that took a month before it began to feel better. It did finally go away, but I thought it never would. Do a search on rotator cuff injuries and see if it sounds like what you’re feeling. Good Luck. TT
Going to the doctor couldn’t hurt—they will probably want to do an x-ray or an MRI though. Maybe you tore some ligaments or something. Give it a little longer and if it persists, go to the Doctor.
