I have a very sharp pain under my left shoulder blade. It’s been going on since around april 2008. It seems to flare anytime I sit down for long periods of time or lay down for lond periods of time. It is also very sore in mornings when I wake up. Ive tried stretching it out but nothing seems to help. When I tilt my head down it hurts severally or if I turn my head to the right. I am in highschool and have a starting spot on the wrestling team so Im really hoping this is not too serious. Any one have any ideas what this could be?

There are 2 things that can cause this.
1) Spinal and rib misalignment- This puts extra pressure on the nerves and muscles underneath the scapula.
2) Muscle imbalance – The muscle that runs under your scapula is called the subscapularis. If another muscle is weak, this muscle will have to perform extra in order to compensate for the weak muscle. This can cause additional pain.
A good chiropractor will be able to diagnose what is specifically going on and be able to correct it. I would recommend that you ask your parents to go see a chiropractor for this condition. You should see some really good results within a couple of weeks
