Pain In Neck, shoulder, Arm, Wrist, Fingers, Jaw

October 15th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Pain

I have had terrible pains in the top left side of my body for about 2 years. I first noticed it when my arm and shoulder felt stuff and i experienced a lot of discomfort when sitting for long periods. Recently it has worsened and i am now experiencing a pain or ache in my neck and shoulder (around the blade), my arm has shooting pains all the way to wrist and fingers(which often tingle) and i get numbness in my jaw.i sometimes feel chest tightness too. Some days it is unbearable and even very strong painkillers do not reduce the level of pain. I have had numerous blood tests for arthritus, bone problems and all he usual and am just awaiting results of an x-ray on my shoulder. I believe it is a trapped nerve which could explain the chest tightness. i cannot even lift up my arm without it shaking or move it into any position other than forward. My Dr has suggested physiotherapy (which has a long waiting list) and i am meeting with her to get the results of my x ray next week, although i do not think it is bone related. I get the pains contstantly most days.
Anyone else had any of these symptoms?

You might have good results with the physical therapy. You might have what I had, a torn rotator cuff in the shoulder area. It gives a stabbing pain that can take over the neck and the shoulder and shoot down the arm . Is it on one side or both? A good orthopedist could diagnose this, as it is common, and sometimes the cortisone shot they give does a world of good. Like a miracle. Good luck.
