I just woke up yesterday and my neck and shoulder were hurting and no, it was not due to strain, sleeping in a weird position, bruising or bites or bumps, it was completely random. It hurts when i put my head back or turn to the right. Also, sometimes the pain will shoot up to my jaw, behind my ear, and the side of my face (left side). Anyone know what it is?

Perhaps it is a strain you aren’t remembering? Perhaps you have slept wrong. Worst case scenerio it could be meningitis which means inflammation of the meninges. Go to the doctors to rule out menengitis. This is a dangerous and often deadly, highly infectious bacterial infection. It is an infection at the base of the brain. I hope this is not the case. Don’t panic just go see your doctor.
The body does not hurt for no reason, there is always a reason. You may have cricked your neck at any time during the day or night without even realising, when you turn your head sharply and strain it you may not be aware of it until much later. If the pain persists you should get it checked out.
Have you been under any heavy stress lately?
Maybe at school or work?
Family problems?
Money problems.
Do you grind your teeth at night?
Stress can affect many parts of your body.
If the pain persists, I’d go see a doctor.
