December 19th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Pain

(FINDING) views of glenoid labrum are unmarkable. Bicipital tendon not dislocated from groove. Within the proximal aspect of the humerus, there is a 2.5cm bone lesion evident. This is low signal on T1 and high signal on T2 and appears somewhat sclerotic and may represent a bone infarct or enchondroma. Correlation with conventional radiographs recommended. Surrounding soft tissues and muscle planes are well preserved.
(IMPRESSION) 1. Rotator cuff tendon is intact. 2. Geographic lesion involving the proximal humeral head which may represent a bone infarct or enchondroma. MRI cannot be more specific and corrlation with conventional radiographs recommended.

Your doc will of course explain everything to you on your next appt.
Basic version – there is a 2.5cm bone lesion/growth in your shoulder causing the pain. No wonder it hurts when you lift it huh!
Don’t freak out. I think I’d rather have a small growth than a torn rotator cuff. Your doc will tell you what the treatment options are and then you can go from there.
