i too have a bad back and i am a nurse. When it was suggested i go to a chiropractor…i did not. The next time i hurt my back I agreed to try it as many folks i respect recommended it. I went dragging my feet and very unsure…well I am here to tell you it worked for me.. It took some time but it really made a difference and now at the first sign of strain…i go back. Try it….it just may help you too…good luck!!!!

This is very appropriate for this type of injury. It may use a variety of techniques…stretching, manual therapy, modalieties, etc. But the best part is that there should be a lot of emphasis on education on how to avoid future injuries and also what you can do should you injure your self again.
    Good luck.

Absolutely. I’m a Registered Nurse as well as a lumbar-spine-injury-sufferer. Physical Therapy will not only expedite healing time, it can strengthen and prevent further injury and injury in the future. The Physical Therapist will pace and tailor his treatment according to your body response and teach you exercises/stretches/pain reducing techniques that you may self – apply. A “quick fix” in your case is not an option. Ask your physical therapist about massage and when/if this could also be helpful. I suggest avoiding chiropractic services with this type of injury — at this point in your recovery! If you decide to implement other types of treatment on your own, make sure your PT and Dr. are aware of it. This is important so that practitioners “stay on the same page” and coordinate a plan of care. I wish you a speedy recovery:)
