In Alot Of Pain In Shoulders?

December 11th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Pain

It started out only in right shoulder now, in both. I can’t sleep on them at night. It also, hurts under right shoulder blade. My neck hurts sometimes as well. I’ve had my gallbladder removed so I know that’s not it. I’ve tried physical therapy. No help. I’ve been given oral steriods. No help. I’ve been given 2 cortisone shots in shoulder. No help. When I try to move right shoulder it feels locked up in some positions. Like it won’t go any futher. Also, I can’t let anything touch them. That causes extreme pain. In extreme pain by end of day anyway. Shoulders pop alot as well. All this for about two months now.

Hi- I feel SO badly for you- Sounds like you may have a Rotator Cuff Tear. Have you been referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon for this? If not, please insist that ur Physician do so. There is something going on in that shoulder that needs addressed- 2 MONTHS is WAY too long for you, or anybody, to have these types of symptoms. Something is certainly locking up in ur shoulder that shouldn’t be! It sounds like you’ve done all YOU can do that is humanly possible. The Physical Therapy- Steroids- Cortisone shots, and no relief. Have you had a CT scan or MRI of this shoulder- even a simple x-ray for starters? The very limited and painful Range of Motion you have explained sounds unbearably painful. I would ask ur Doctor about an Orthopedic Specialist or a Pain Management Clinic. I have shoulder issues, but, not to this extreme. I don’t know how you are dealing with this. Have you considered using an arm brace, in order to keep ur arm from moving as much? The crepetis (popping) all the time is a HUGE symptom of something BIG going on that may need Surgical intervention. The neck hurting is due more than likely to the muscles/tendons being effected by the shoulder’s issues. I am surprised that ur hand isn’t swollen due to this. Get to the Physician, INSIST on further interventions, and in the meantime- try to find an arm immoblizer/brace to help immoblize ur arm. ICE the area, to help with the inflammation/pain. I’m sure you are on pain medications, but, an anti-inflammatory may help a bit. I am SO SORRY, and rereading this, you are having issues with BOTH shoulders- PLEASE GET AN APPOINTMENT AND BE PERSISTANT. I’d like to hear follow up on this. Testing and a proper diagnosis is the key @ this time. NOBODY should live like this. You’ve done nothing wrong. Get a second opinion if need be. Please let me know how things are going. I am very concerned about you. Take care and Good Luck.

Have they done an MRI to see if you have torn tendons in your shoulders? Or perhaps they should do an MRI on your back and some blood tests. I had problem with a shoulder for years from an old injury come to find out that I had an auto immune disease called Reiter’s Syndrome.
