    It could be cancer.

I get this as well. I sit in front of a computer all day at work and don’t get much exercise. Mine usually gets worse when I’m laying on the couch in the evenings watching tv. Probably muscle pain…could also be pinched nerve or gas. If ecg was normal, I would try stretching several times a day and changing positions as often as possible to reduce strain on that particular muscle.

It may be due to several reasons. Observe the way your sitting position if you sits for long hours. The way you lift up or carry things may also be the cause of it too without you knowing it. Do some simple stretch up to release the tension on the shoulder muscles for every hour.
Try these simple and yet beneficial for our body. The pain will go away. If it persist, consult your doctor again!
    Take care! :) )

This may be because of spondylosis. If it is happening too frequently, then you may consult a neurologist who should be able to detect it (or suspect it) without doing MRI.

it might be simple muscle spasm.. it might also be due to other abdominal organ problem such as stomach, pancreas.. consult doctor especially if u have other symptoms

I too sometimes get this and it is a muscle you actually have two one on each side over the lungs. Try rotating your shoulders while at work every half hour or so. If you actually pull/strain this muscle it can be very painful for several days. Also when not at work try to stay away from the position you sit in while at work. Stretching with your arms over your head and leaning from left to right works this muscle as well. Good Luck!
