I Injured My Shoulder While Lifting Weights And Am Wondering If I Can Just Keep Lifting Through The Pain…?

November 21st, 2009 · 4 Comments · Pain

I am having pain even when I am not lifting weights but I don’t want to stop lifting weights and lose any muscle since my shoulders are the most defined part of my upper body. Do I have to lay off or will I risk more serious injury if I keep pushing through the pain.

I just recently had a shoulder injury and it hurt much. My advice would be to rest for 2-3 days at a minimum and if you absolutely have to lift start off with light weight and higher reps. If the pain gets worse then stop and get your shoulder checked out. If it’s a strain or a pull rest should do the trick. Just make sure it’s nothing like a torn muscle.

Better to lay off and let the injury heal.
Work on your bird legs, haha. (-Just a joke, since so many people who work out end up lopsided when they get a good result in one area) Don’t take it personally.
But really, you need to heal the injury or it won’t get back right and you’ll have lifetime problems.

Best to give it a rest and let it heal, if you keep going you are going to do more damage and may never have the use you had before the injury.
