How Can You Tell If You Tore Something In Your Shoulder?

December 19th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Pain

I dislocated my left shoulder for a SECOND time and if i tore anything that means surgery which means no football this year. How can I tell if i tore a ligament, muscle, or tendon in my shoulder without getting an MRI scan? Would it be in constant pain no matter what or hurt alot whenever I move my shoulder? 10 points to best answer.

What you have is a chronic subluxation of your shoulder. What they call a Bankart lesion. The tissues that hold your humeral head (ball in shoulder) in place are lax, stretched out to the point that they can’t go back to their original tenstile strength. the humeral head sits a a shallow groove anyway and depends heavy on the supporting soft tissues around it to hold it in place, when these tissues are compromised the shoulder subluxes or slips in & out of place…especially under stress. Whether or not anything is torn or not may be insignificant at this point because this seems to be a reoccuring problem for you now. Physical therapy can help, surgery is probable. Hate to ruin your day, but you better know the truth and go ahead and deal with it now. Here is a link for more information. I wish you luck though!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dislocated_…
