Horrible Pain In Upper Back/shoulder?

November 2nd, 2009 · 1 Comment · Pain

for years now, on and off ive had what seems to be a burning sensation at the top of my left shoulder, not right on top but a little above my shoulder blade. it comes and goes and sometimes the pain is not too bad and other times, like tonite, it feels so tight and like its on fire. im not too sure what triggers it, like i said it just comes and goes but i know it hurts and burns like hell. does anyone know what this could be ?also, when i move my arms and neck the pain gets worse. i wont be able to get into my doctor until dec. and im just kinda curious… thanks in advance

Burning sensations are often related to nerve injuries. You may have a trapped nerve, do you suffer from any tingling feelings, especially down the arm? If not, you may have a rotator cuff injury. However, there is a possibility it may be a problem that can only be repaired through surgery, I am not entirely sure on this, but I know a family whos mum, and both daughters suffered with a smiliar problem which was related to either the bone growth or ligament, does anyone else in your family suffer from this? On the plus side, after surgery they are fine! I would suggest in the mean time, whilst waiting to see the doctor, visit a physiotherapist, they will be able to help you or direct you in the right direction!
