6 months ago – severe pain in upper arm, impingement in the shoulder joint, pain and stiffness in neck and upper back. Woken up with numbness, pins and needles and sometimes “sore” pins and needles in my hands, and deprived of sleep.

Is it like you can’t even turn your head? Or when you drive you have to move your whole body to see to the side?
Could be a pinched nerver but hopefully not. I had the same issue many years back. Luckliy no pinched nerve. I just had so much tension in my right shoulder it would strain all the time.
Some visits to the chiro and pt and I was good to go in about a month.
Stay away from cortizone if you can.

Go to a physical theripist. You have a pinched nerve. It will only get worse if you don’t do something about it.
It does sound like a pinched nerve and you should not wait to seek help from a doctor.
