Keep working the muscles. Light weight lifting if you can tolerate it. You may never get your full range of motion back and the older you get the worse it can get. Keep up with PT and try to work it out on your own. You may need to rethink your duties in the Marines. GOOD LUCK &GOD SPEED!!!

I've had shoulder surgery in 05 due to torn ligaments and problems in the rotator cuff....it did not get better even though I went to PT---after all avenues were exhausted I had a second surgery to determine what is going on. The result of that one was shocking: I had accumulated scar tissue mainly from PT that was too rough. My doctor sent me to aqua therapy after the 2nd surgery.....and he told me to go swimming. It took about 18 months to get the full range of motion back but because of the serious damage I had sustained from the wear and tear and 2 surgeries do I still somewhat have a weaker arm.
I would say try to get checked for scar tissue in the affected joint and try to swim as much as possible---swimming is definitely more gentle on the injured tissue then physical therapy....good luck
