Extreme Pain After Contrast Injection To Shoulder Joint?

November 14th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Pain

I had a contrast injection into my shoulder joint before my MRI, now hours later I can’t move my arm (shoulder) without a sort of shocking pain (like nerve pain I’m assuming) and it brings tears to my eyes and takes my breath away. Now when he did this injection he had a very hard time getting the dye to flow thus injecting and re injecting the needle and moving it in circular motion after thinking it’s in correct. Is this normal because I fail to believe it otherwise he’d have sent me home with some sort of pain med. please advise, anyone…please!!

I had the same thing done for an MRI & never any answers;; they just ‘got rid of me” & said the MRI that they got was “good enough”, in spite of the fact that I was not put in long enough to get any “picture”;; they messed up, got it in the wrong place, my muscle..so, of course being very young & naive, I let it go;; my arm ballooned up just about 1/2 hr later & i got responses that it shouldn’t have been injected into the muscle, to I had an allergic response to the contrast;; still don’t know, but it took me a good 4-5 days to resolve, & it was in my upper arm (healthy upper arm);; I feel for you, but contact the doc who ordered this MRI & tell him what happened, you may need to be ready to take another, but @ another location;; IF I woulda known better @ the time, that’s what I would have asked for..good luck, take your pain meds for now & try to move the shoulder gently (pain-free) if ya can…
