Can Power Washing Cause A Shoulder And Arm Ache?

November 20th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Pain

Can power washing or pressure washing a deck cause a muscle ache? I have a sharp pain near the left shoulder blade and a dull ache in my left triceps. I also have calluses on my left forefinger and left thumb. The only thing strenuous activity I can think of is power washing my deck.

Yes, you are using your muscles to counteract the force of the pressure washer. It is wanting to push back all the time you have a water stream. So depending on how long you did it, you had one set of muscles tense for possibly hours. Action and reaction, it wants to push back and you must control it, the same as a fire hose to a much smaller degree

Sure you are using muscles that you don’t normally use when sitting on the couch watching TV. Take a couple of Tylenol, Aspirin or drug of choice and go back to watching TV.
